The sacred place delights locals and tourists with its austere grandeur. An ancient volcano is located on about. Honshu towering over Tokyo. It has an honed conical shape, 3776 m above sea level. The mountain range is considered a weakly active volcano. The last eruption was recorded in the century before last, in 1700. Near it stretch 5 beautiful volcanic lakes and a national park, next to hot springs. The volcano is affectionately called “Fuji”. This magnificent place inspires artists and poets.
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
A magnificent exotic grove was created by the Buddhist monk, poet and master of landscape design Muso Soseki. It is located in the Kyoto region. The picturesque place is unique and mystical, captivates with its unusual beauty. The Sagano Bamboo Forest is a real “king” of nature! The trees in it make amazing sounds that enhance the fabulous atmosphere. The music of the forest is magical. It brings harmony and relaxation, similar to the sound of bells. The paths in the grove carry a special style. Here you can philosophize about life and eternity of being. Bamboo giants grow like a green wall along the alleys. In the evenings, the grove is illuminated by lights that create a bewitching spectacle. Nearby is Tenryu-ji Temple, a World Heritage Site.
Todai-ji Temple
A unique attraction is located in the town of Narga. The sacred site of Japan is a bizarre wooden structure erected in 745. In the center of the temple stands a 15-meter bronze Buddha statue. At the bottom of the columns is a narrow passage. It is believed that those who pass through it will receive blessings and enlightenment. Children usually get through easier than adults. The Shosoin treasury contains ancient relics, and the temple itself houses a collection of manuscripts. Deer live in this area.
Shibuya District
A wonderful place in Tokyo was an ancient, then a small city. Here high skyscrapers soar into the sky, people smile and time “runs”. Shibuya is a vibrant kaleidoscope of entertainment, fashion boutiques, restaurants and shopping. In the district center there is a monument to the faithful dog Hachiko, who was waiting for the owner who left this world until the end of his life. Temples and museums, the former garden of Emperor Shinjuku Gyoen, the Tobacco and Electricity Museum, an art gallery, a concert hall, national theaters and cultural centers are the chic perks of this area.
Hiroshima Peace Memorial
The tragic “atomic dome” Genbaku until August 1945 was the exhibition center of the Hiroshima Trade and Industrial Association. The building was destroyed by an atomic bomb fired by the US Army during the final stages of the 2nd World War. None of the people survived. After the war, the dome was strengthened, but not fully restored. Nearby is the Peace Memorial Park, which houses a museum, monuments, a bell and a cenotaph. Genbaku has become a world exhibit of Japan and is protected by UNESCO.
Happo-en Garden
A cozy green oasis flaunts in the Japanese city of Tokyo. Tea ceremonies are held here, townspeople have a rest, believers visit temples. The garden is decorated with delightful dwarf trees, sakura, bonsai, maple, cherry, azalea, hydrangea, wisteria. It is called the “Garden of 8 landscapes” (views).
Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park
An interesting, unusual attraction attracts the attention of tourists. Macaques live in the park, about 150 different species. It was opened in 1964. Snow lies on the territory of the park area, and monkeys bask in the thermal springs, putting their paws on the shore. They are grouped there by whole “families”, and each animal has its own worries. Macaques feed on plants and while the “older” ones are resting, the “younger” hunt, getting food for the family. This is a real monkey spa resort! People come to see primates and take fascinating pictures.
